Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX – Jan. 26, 2018 – The third day of the Triple Copa Scappino Concurso Internacional began with eighty-three competitors in the Tequila Reserva de la Familia Cup 1.30m. Of the thirty-two clear rides, Jorge Canedo Vincent was fastest, scoring the first win of the morning aboard Caitari, owned by Gestüt Lewitz. Vincent edged out the other competitors in the speed class, stopping the clock in 54.48 seconds, just fractions of a second quicker than the second and third places finishers, Juan Manuel Luzardo on La Vine and Maria Fernanda Hegewisch Orozco riding Cibeles LS.

Course designer Guilherme Jorge set a track that narrowed down the field of thirty-eight riders to a jump-off of ten in the Banorte Cup 1.40m. Rails fell throughout the course, but an oxer set in the shade of a giant Eucalyptus tree, a skinny white vertical set in six strides after a triple bar, and the final oxer-vertical combination kept quite a few riders out of the jump-off. Fourteen entries posted a score of four faults.

Earning two spots in the jump-off and his second win of the week, Brazilian Rodrigo Lambre piloted went first on Chapilot, and was quite fast, but had an unfortunate rail. He took a tidy track on his second mount in the jump-off, Chacciama, the eleven-year-old bay mare owned by his partner, Mario Oñate B., stopping the clock with a time of 33.61 seconds. Noting that Chacciama is not as speedy but good at tight turns, he rode her to suit her mood. “Chacciama is very marish,”he noted. “It is important to keep her relaxed and happy to be successful.”
