Victoria Colvin and Cuba Claim High Performance Working Hunters Championship

Wellington, Fla. – Feb. 1, 2018 – Victoria Colvin and Cuba, owned by John and Stephanie Ingram LLC, took home the division win in Week Four of the High Performance Working Hunters after steadily gaining points throughout the week. Colvin and Cuba bested a competitive field of entries on Thursday afternoon at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).

Colvin and Cuba are no stranger to the winner’s circle, having had a very successful career since the Ingram’s purchase of the horse in 2017. Some of their career highlights include winning the 2017 USHJA International Hunter Derby and Cuba winning the impressive US Equestrian National Horse of the Year title. Colvin is now working with owner John Ingram to prepare Cuba for World Championship Hunter Rider Week, which will take place during Week Six of competition.

Coming in reserve was Louise Serio and El Primero, owned by Meralex Farm, Inc. The pair dominated the over fences portion on Thursday with a score of 87 in both the over fences and stake rounds.

Earlier in the day at the E.R. Mische Grand Hunter ring, Jennifer Hannan and Patricia Fulchino’s Best Regards won the title of championship in Week Four’s High Performance Conformation Hunter division. The pair expertly rode through the course by placing first in four out of six rounds over two days of competition. In reserve was Steve Schaefer and Color Pearlz, owned by Matthew Yeterian.

On Cuba’s performance:
“He was very good today. He hasn’t done this class in a bit, so he needs to get used to doing this height again. After he gets used to it I think he will put in some really great rounds the rest of the season.”

On their plans for the rest of the season:
“Cuba will be doing the Amateurs with John Ingram the rest of the season and probably doing the High Performance Hunters with me a couple more times. During Week Six he will definitely be doing the Amateurs with John Ingram. We don’t have a definite plan yet, but he will most likely being doing the 3’6” High Performance Hunters with me that week too.”

On Best Regards:
“He is a 9-year-old stallion. We’ve had him for two and a half years. He is super; he is such a tryer and he is always keen. He is actually one of my favorite horses to ride.”

On their plans for the rest of the season:
“He’s been great this season. He’s was champion his first week out and again this week – things couldn’t be better! We plan to show him Week 6 and after that, we will take it from there.”
