Lexington, Ky., – Mar.. 31, 2018 – The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association reminds members that in January US Equestrian passed several key rule changes that affect Hunter/Jumper competitors and take effect on April 1. These approved rule changes include the following:
- Green Hunter Section Offerings – HU 113.1 (Tracking No. 177-17): This rule change removes the requirement that Premier and National competitions offering Green Hunter sections must offer all four height sections, allowing more flexibility for competition managers to meet the needs of their exhibitors.
- Hunter Breeding Handlers – HU 188.4 (Tracking No. 183-17): This rule change states that at Premier and National rated competitions, a handler may not exhibit more than one horse in each of the Hunter Breeding classes listed in HU 189 or HU 190. Further it requires that at these competitions the same handler must present the horse in all phases of the class and horses will be lined up in the order of preference for a final judging opportunity. The rule change states that at Regional I and II rated competitions, a handler may exhibit multiple horses.
- Removing Licensing Procedures from Rule Book – GR 1040 (Tracking No. 330-17): This rule change removes rules originally detailed in GR 1040 through GR 1078 (most recently renumbered GR1043 to GR1082), which detail the policies and procedures of licensing officials, and relocates this information with some adjustments into a separate document entitled, “US Equestrian Licensed Officials Policies and Procedures.” Questions about the licensing process may be directed to US Equestrian at LOInquiry@usef.org.
- Horse Recording Grace Period – GR 1102 (Tracking No. 344-17): This rule change provides a grace period for horses missing USEF horse recordings. Members may correct bad points by recording their horse within 10 days of receiving a USEF Bad Points email. While not explicitly detailed in the rule change, this 10-day grace period is extended for USHJA Horse Registrations as well.
