Tim Goguen and Style Steal Grand Hunter Champion Title With Perfect Scores

Lexington, Ky. – May 16, 2019 – Hunter competition at the Kentucky Spring Classic continued on Thursday with the awarding of the Grand Hunter Champion title. Presented by Visse Wedell, the title is awarded to the horse-and-rider combination that accumulated the most points throughout the professional divisions across Wednesday and Thursday. This week’s award was presented to Tim Goguen and Take the High Road LLC’s Style.  With a clean sweep of the Green Conformation Hunters, Goguen earned the division championship before ultimately claiming the grand champion title and a perfect score.

Goguen and the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding secured their championship award and a perfect score across two days of competition by placing first in all four over fences as well as the under saddle class. Competing in the Green Conformation Hunter division, the pair proved to be unbeatable, even amongst the sport’s top hunter professionals. Goguen and Style have been partnered together since the end of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, only just beginning to show last week at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show. Up next, Style will head to the Devon Horse Show to compete in the junior hunter divisions.

The Grand Hunter Champion award is presented each year by Visse Wedell, who has been a valued and continuous supporter of the Kentucky Horse Shows by sponsoring grand championship prizes in multiple divisions every year.

Competition in the Stonelea Ring will resume on Friday morning at 8 a.m. with the Amateur Owner divisions with the highlight of the day being the National Horse Show Medal 3’3’’, the WIHS Equitation Hunter Phase, and the ASPCA Maclay. In the Claiborne ring, hunter competition will see the Taylor Harris Insurance / National Horse Show Adult Medal.
