Wellington, Fla. — Jan. 13, 2018 — The first Saturday Night Lights of the 2018 Winter Equestrian Festival kicked off with the annual return of the $75,000 Battle of the Sexes presented by Wellington Regional Medical Center.
In its tenth year, the event featured ten riders on both the gentleman and ladies teams with Charlie Jayne and Nicole Bellissimo featured as captains. In a three-part format consisting of a table C phase, a relay phase, and a match race phase, the men’s team bested the ladies for the first time in the history of the event. The girl’s team came out ahead of the boys in both the first and second phases but seemed to crack under pressure in the third and final match race phase and conceded to the boys with a four-point loss.
