2:30 p.m. – The flat phase has concluded, where horse-and-rider combinations’ adjustability, balance and connection were put to the test by the judges, who asked for a series of skill demonstrations such as the counter-canter, extended canter and sitting trot, among others.

Lexington, Ky. – Nov. 4, 2018 – The 2018 ASPCA Maclay National Championship, presented by Chansonette Farm, is officially underway with 175 junior riders competing over fences in the first round of the prestigious final, which began at 7 a.m. in the Alltech Arena at the National Horse Show. This year’s judges are Chance Arakelian and Walter T. Kees. Stay tuned for Sunday’s coverage on Phelps Sports, which will be updated live throughout the class with photos, commentary and call back lists. The second round of the Maclay will begin at approximately 2 p.m. with the flat phase followed by another round of over fences.
