Laura Chapot Wins $5,000 Lake Placid CVB 1.40m Open Jumper Stake at I Love New York Horse Show in Lake Placid

Lake Placid, N.Y. – July 4, 2018 – Laura Chapot rode Out of Ireland to victory in the $5,000 Lake Placid CVB 1.40m Open Jumper Stake Wednesday at the I Love New York Horse Show, the second week of the 49th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows, presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC and sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC.

Thirteen of 28 entries reached the tiebreaking jump-off by riding clean over the first-round course designed by Michel Vaillancort. Five of those also rode clean in the jump-off with Chapot turning in the fastest time of 32.039 seconds to win the horse show’s featured class for the second straight day.

Placing second on Call Me Ruth was Irish Olympic veteran Kevin Babington, winner of this past Sunday’s $75,000 Prevost Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix. He completed the jump-off fault-free in 34.096 seconds. Third place went to Sloane Coles with a clean jump-off ride in 34.845 seconds on MTF Saint Simeon.

Earlier on Wednesday, Paige Jardine rode Full Speed to the win over a 44-horse field in the $1,200 NBC 5 1.30m Jumper Class. Babington placed second in this class as well, this time on ESI Vienna. Third went to McKayla Langmeier, who was third in Sunday’s Grand Prix, on Flippant.

The I Love New York Horse Show continues daily through Sunday. Highlights include the $100,000 Great American Insurance Group Grand Prix on Saturday and the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Eastern Hay & Purina Animal Nutrition on Sunday.
