Jimmy Torano Tops 68th Edition of South Florida Hunter Jumper Association Charity Show at PBIEC

Wellington, Fla. – Dec. 4, 2018 – The 68th Annual South Florida Hunter Jumper Association Charity Horse Show, hosted at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center from November 21-25, welcomed equestrians from around the country to one of the most historic shows in South Florida.

The event featured hunter, jumper, and equitation competition, highlighted by the $35,000 Spy Coast & Sweet Oak Farms Grand Prix under the lights in the International Ring. The class was topped by Jimmy Torano of Wellington, FL, aboard Amargeddon, owned by Cenci Jumper, LLC, who completed the jump-off in 40.963 seconds for the win.

Willie Tynan of Wellington, FL, and Fancy Girl, owned by Michelle Guardino, secured second place after stopping the timers in 42.495 seconds. Eduardo Menezes of Carlsbad, CA, who won the class in 2017, finished in third place with H5 Uchingo, owned by H5 Stables, with a jump-off time of 43.158 seconds. The class featured 43 entries and was designed by Guilherme Jorge (BRA), with ten entries moving forward to contest the short course.

Jumper Highlights

The $10,000 Artisan Farm Open Welcome Stake saw Torano secure his second victory of the week aboard Armageddon, owned by Cenci Jumper, LLC, after the pair dashed through the timers in 33.392 seconds. Victoria Colvin of Loxahatchee, FL, and Chelsea 96, owned by Daisy Farish, collected second place with a time of 34.291 seconds ahead of Stephen Moore and Deejay, owned by Vlock Show Stables, who finished with a time of 35.808 seconds.

The $10,000 NAL Warrick Family & Jumper Beast Low Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic saw Alma Bjorklund of Wellington, FL, and Unex Captain Chaos 8, owned by Gyllebo Farm LLC, rise to the top of the class with the fastest jump-off time of 35.518 seconds. Juan Pablo Gnecco of Wellington, FL, piloted Duncan, owned by OnlyJumpers.com to second place after finishing in 36.159 seconds. Nataly Leibovitz of Wellington, FL, and her own Alaia Gold Z rounded out the top three after dropping a single rail for four faults and finishing in 34.111 seconds.

Teddy Vlock of Branford, CT, and his mount, Fein Umbra, owned by Vlock Show Stables, LLC, captured top honors in the $10,000 Paul Tracy Farrier Services High Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic after dashing through the short course in 34.084 seconds. Sophia Studd of Wellington, FL, and her own Corlanda secured second place with a time of 35.055 seconds, while Marie Antonette Leviste of Wellington, FL, and her own Loribri, stopped the clock in 40.891 seconds and added four faults to their overall score for third place.

Daniel Kerins of Wellington, FL, piloted Zindora v/d Kapel to the top of the $10,000 NAL/WIHS John & Monika Preston Child/Adult Classic as the duo sped through the timers to stop the clock in 33.634 seconds. Kerins also secured second place aboard Elwood 13, this time finishing the jump-off in 35.374 seconds. Brooke Cudmore of Omaha, NE, and Rosa, owned by Karen Cudmore, finished in third place with a time of 35.774 seconds.

Kristen Vanderveen of St. Charles, IL, and Cristiano, owned by Mattie Hatcher, secured top honors in the $5,000 Gut Einhaus, LLC 1.35m Jumper Stake with a time of 30.02 seconds. Roberto Teran, Jr. of Wellington, FL, and Boleybawn Perfection, owned by Caitlin Connors, LLC, secured second place with a time of 31.248 seconds, ahead of Jimmy Torano of Wellington, FL, and his own El Capone, who stopped the timers in 32.676 seconds.

The $1,500 BLES Management Low Children’s Jumper Classic saw Catherine Hayek of Jupiter, FL, guide Quinam Des Estisses, owned by Moira MacLean, to victory with a jump-off time of 35.391 seconds. Sydney Myers of Plantation, FL, and Cotswold Classic, owned by Pine Hollow Farm, rode to second place after completing the track in 36.067 seconds. Olivia Dornau of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and her own Top Notch, took third place with a time of 37.124 seconds.

The $1,500 JET Show Stables Low Adult Amateur Jumper Classic was championed by Karen Bailey of Athens, GA, and her own Baton Rouge, ahead of Juliet Johansson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and her own Viva’s Roxanna W. Clara Vidal of South West Ranches, FL, and her own Hollandia, rounded out the top three in the class.

The $500 Dr. Annette Friend .95 Mini Prix was championed by Zoe McQuillan of Kensington, NH, and her own Carfia, as the duo rode to victory with a jump-off time of 37.733 seconds. Catherine Hayek of Jupiter, FL, and Quinam Des Estisses, owned by Moira MacLean, secured second place with a time of 40.083 seconds. Danielle Gore of Miami, FL, and her own Valencia, took third place after finishing the jump-off in 42.404 seconds.

Hunter Highlights

The $10,000 PJP Farm & Spring Gathering USHJA National Hunter Derby saw another win for Jimmy Torano of Wellington, FL, this time aboard Exclusive, owned by Isalou, Inc., who topped the class with a score of 184. Heather Caristo-Williams of Wellington, FL, and Quickborn 7, owned by Ralph Caristo, captured second place with a score of 179.5. Jennifer Bliss of Loxahatchee, FL, and Poker Face, owned by Harris Hill Farm, LLC, took third place, recording a total score of 179.5.

Olivia Sweetnam of Wellington, FL, and Sugarbrooke Burnside, owned by Sweet Oak Farm, topped the $5,000 The Karet Family Pony Hunter Classic, with a two round score of 179. Taylor Cawley of Wellington, FL, and Astro Boy, owned by GC Ponies, followed in second place after receiving a score of 168.5. Savonna Adell of Bloomfield, MI, and Spellbound, owned by Ponies & Palms Show Stables, LLC, took third placed with a total score of 166.

Jordan Allen of West Bloomfield, MI, guided Corcovado, owned by NTM Enterprises to top honors in the $2,000 Summerfields Farm & RC Stables Junior/Amateur Owner 3’3″/3’6″ Classic with a total score of 170. Lee Kellogg Sandrian of New York, NY, piloted her own Rafiki to second place after receiving a 157. Madison Ramsey of Palm Harbor, FL, rode Clever, owned by Mr. & Mrs. Kevin Eufemia, to third place with a score of 154.

The $500 NAL/WIHS Luxe Management Children’s Hunter Classic was championed by Cassie Warren of New Canaan, CT, aboard Undercover, owned by Whipstick Farm, LTD, who earned a total score of 153. Sara Hardin of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and her own Cowboy Up finished in second place with a score of 134, while Emily Giovino of Davie, FL, and her own Good Egg captured third place with a score of 113.

Olivia Notman of Boca Raton, FL, and her own Signature rose to the occasion in the $500 NAL/WIHS Aster Hill Hunter Classic, while Julie Burton of Wellington, FL, and Jagger-V, owned by Maarten Huygens, followed in second place. Diane Welter of Clearwater Beach, FL, and her own Violets Are Blue secured third place.

The $250 Robert Ross, PA Low Children’s Hunter Classic was won by Maggie Huntley of Southwest Ranches, FL, aboard Donatalla, owned by Alexys Mead, after earning a total score of 150. Heidi Chase of Southwest Ranches, FL, and Lightning, owned by Nikki Car, finished in second place after receiving a 140, while Lauren Bialy of Davie, FL, guided her own Special Request to third place on a 127.

Karen Bailey of Athens, GA, piloted Simply Red to first place in the $250 Robert Ross, PA Low Adult Hunter Classic after securing a total score of 158. Lisa Berger of Parkland, FL, and Chloe, owned by East Wind Farms LLC, took second place with a score of 145, ahead of Mary Kathryn Brown of Fayetteville, AR, aboard Heist, owned by MMK Equestrian, LLC, who concluded the class with a score of 139.

Equitation Highlights

Morgan Rosia of Germantown, MD, and Jefferson, owned by Claudia Millstone, rose to the top of the SFHJA Spectrum Show Stables Junior Hunter Seat Medal Final, ahead of Skyler Axelrod of Pompano Beach, FL, who piloted Versailles, owned by Madison Aguilar, to second place. Nicolas Gamboa of Aiken, SC, and Northface, owned by Daniel Aghani, captured third place.

The SFHJA Seabrook, LLC Pony Hunter Seat Medal Final was championed by Emma Hechtman of Tampa, FL, and On Your Mark, owned by Sweet Oak Farm, while Olivia Sweetnam of Wellington, FL, and Sugarbrook Burnside, owned by Sweet Oak Farm, took home second place honors. Emma Arnhols of Coral Gables, FL, and Farnley Hi Tide, owned by Kayla Jacobs, rounded out the top three.

Taylor Blackburn of Pompano, FL, and Victurus Te Salutat, owned by Carriage Hill Farm, were victorious in the SFHJA Carriage Hill Farm Adult Amateur Hunter Seat Medal Final. Catie Staszak of Boynton Beach, FL, and Likely Story, owned by Eat Wind Farms, LLC, finished in second place. Emily Ablin of Palm Beach, FL, and Jasper, owned by Kyle Dewar, finished in third place.

The SFJHA Four G Equestrian & PBEC Junior/Adult Medal Wildcard saw Lillie Parr of Marshall, TX, and Beckham, owned by Pinecone Farm, LLC, take top honors in the class, ahead of Olivia Notman of Boca Raton, FL, and her own Signature, who secured second place. Katelyn Williams of Parkland, FL, and Cordoba VDL Pedroval, owned by Haras Pedroval, concluded the class in third.

Arabella Navab of Southampton, NY, and her own Indigo Girl, championed the SFHJA Palm Beach Equine Pony Medal Wildcard, ahead of Logan Butzer of Boca Raton, FL, and Rockette, owned by Ponies & Palms Show Stables, LLC, who earned second place. Campbell Brown of Fayetteville, AR, and Mr. McGregor, owned by MMK Equestrian LLC, collected third place.
