HITS Ocala Winter Circuit Brings Week II to a Close

Ocala, Fla. – Jan. 31, 2018 – The HITS Ocala Winter Circuit has wrapped up for Week II at HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida, with much success in both the hunter and jumper rings. With extremely competitive riders and horses, Week II proved to be exciting for all involved.

The Ocala Horse Properties Stadium started off strong on Wednesday with Tracy Magness taking home the blue ribbon in the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Open Welcome aboard Intenz Van HD with a jump-off time of 33.762 seconds. Close behind her, Lisa Goldman took home both the second and third place ribbons aboard Sovereign and Centurion B, respectively. Goldman and Sovereign had a jump-off time of 34.029 seconds, while she and Centurion B had a jump-off time of 34.145 seconds. Fourth place was earned by David Jennings aboard Lasco 29 with a jump-off time of 34.747 seconds and Devin Ryan rounded out the top five aboard Florida with a jump-off time of 35.097 seconds.

On Thursday, Devin Ryan came back from his fifth place ride on Wednesday, to win the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix, this time aboard Eddie Blue with a jump-off time of 39.378 seconds. Daniel Geitner took home second place honors aboard Vesta de Lavardin with a jump-off time of 41.656 seconds. Tracy Fenney had both the third and fifth place rides aboard Igor Van de Heibos and MTM Como No with a jump-off time of 44.104 seconds and a four-fault jump-off time of 41.230 seconds, respectively. Fourth place was awarded to Dorothy Douglas aboard S & L Elite with a jump-off time of 44.127 seconds.

In the $10,000 Open Prix on Friday, Emanuel Andrade took home first, second, and fifth place, with three very talented horses, Clouwni, Dipssy, and Gran Mamut, respectively. A jump-off time of 43.761 seconds put Anrade and Clouwni into first place, followed by a jump-off time of 44.863 seconds for second place with Dipssy. Andrade’s jump-off time of 46.838 with GRAN MAMUT rounded out the top five. Another successful ride for Devin Ryan and Florida, with a jump-off time of 46.742 seconds, put him into the third place spot. Alexis Trosch and Cantara Z came in fourth with a jump-off time of 46.786 seconds.

On Saturday in the $10,000 1.35m Classic, Emanuel Andrade once again dominated the ring, taking home first, third, and sixth place honors aboard Cortina 186, Joli Jumper, and Garcino Van de Lijnsaerd, respectively. Andrade and Cortina 186 received a jump-off time of 36.485 seconds, giving him the win. Andrade and Joli Jumper had a jump-off time of 39.784 seconds, while he and Garcino Van de Lijnsaerd had a four-fault jump-off time of 37.796 seconds. Manuel Torres and Christofolini H came in second place, just one second behind Andrade, with a jump-off time of 37.582 seconds. Kaitlyn Williams and Shaq came in fourth with a jump-off time of 40.535 seconds. David Raposa finished out the top five aboard S & L SAGE, jumping-off with a time of 40.759 seconds.

On Sunday, some of the best grand prix riders in the country, gathered in Ocala Horse Properties Stadium for the $50,000 Ulcerguard Grand Prix. Spectators cheered as Lisa Goldman took the first place prize aboard Hindsight, with a jump-off time of 37.752 seconds. Being a crowd favorite, the crowd went wild as Goldman flew through the second timer, pushing David Raposa into second place.

Raposa proudly accepted second place honors aboard Iliona. Their fault-free jump-off time of 37.791 seconds was more than two seconds faster than third place rider, Emanuel Andrade. Representing Venezuela, Andrade, again had more than one successful ride, earning third, fourth, and eighth place awards, aboard Ricore Courcelle, Bon Jovi, and U, respectively. Andrade and Ricore Courcelle had a four-fault jump-off time of 35.998 seconds, just ahead of Bon Jovi, who had a four-fault jump-off time of 36.040 seconds. Last, but certainly not least, Aaron Vale took the fifth place award with Finou 4 and a four-fault jump-off time of 36.399 seconds.

It was a successful week in the Hunter rings, as well, with the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix and the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix. Riders who compete in these classes earn points toward qualifying for the HITS Championships that will take place in Saugerties, New York, this September 5-9.

Amanda Steege won the first place prize in the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix with Lafitte de Muze, with a combined score of 175.5. Second place was awarded to Dominique Damico aboard Nemesis 11, with their total score being 169. To round out the top three, congratulations were given to Morgan Ward and Stateside, with their combined score of 168.

In the $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix, Elizabeth Phillips took home the blue ribbon aboard Sienna. Their combined score was an impressive 165. In second place was Annie Walsh and Erosmith, with a combined score of 164. In third was Alexa Bayko aboard Clearly. Their two-round score totaled 163.
