HITS Chicago Showplace Spring Classic Series Finishes Strong

Crete, Ill. – May 30, 2018 – The Showplace Spring Classic Series wrapped up hunter and jumper competition last week, but HITS Balmoral Park still welcomes ten more weeks of horse shows, starting with the Spring Spectacular Series which will start next week and runs June 6-24.

Wednesday, Lauren Hester started the week off strong, winning the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Open Welcome aboard Warinde B in a jump-off time of 37.881. Second was Lisa Goldman and Hit Me Van’t Zorgliet in a jump-off time of 38.208 and third was Bryn Sadler aboard Cezarro in a jump-off time of 35.998. In fourth place was Hannah Bilton and Elan in a jump-off time of 40.464 and rounding out the top five was Nick Novak aboard his mount Classic Roc.

In the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumper Prix, Goldman took yet another win for the season aboard Nike in a jump-off time of 34.835 and was also third aboard Valladam in a jump-off time of 35.998. Close behind in second was Taylor Kain and Shuttergold with a jump-off time of 35.732 and fourth was Kyle Perkovich aboard Zacantos Z in a jump-off time of 36.064. Fifth was Lauren Hester and Cooper 166 in a jump-off time of 37.450.

Another Saturday brought another $35,000 HITS Grand Prix and another victory for Goldman and Hindsight after masterfully maneuvering the jump-off course in a speedy time of 35.521. Goldman also secured the second and third place spots aboard Hit Me Van’t Zorgvliet and Sovereign in jump-off times of 35.821 and 36.368, respectively. Sadler and Cezarro were fourth in a jump-off time of 36.380 and Hester was fifth aboard Cooper 166 in a jump-off time of 40.049.

The hunters also had another successful week, with Kain having a beautiful trip in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, to take the win with her mount Market Trend and a combined score of 170. Kain also took fourth place aboard Hope and a combined score of 135. Just two points behind her was Holly Yeterian and Color Pearlz with a combined score of 168. Third was awarded to Liz Atkins and Timeless with a combined score of 166 and fifth was Grace Grove and Cydelle with a combined score of 116.

Week One of the Showplace Spring Spectacular will take place from June 6-10 at HITS Balmoral Park.
