Aachen, Germany – July 21, 2017 – World #1 Kent Farrington rode R.C.G. Farm’s 16 year-old gelding, Uceko, to a double-clear finish to win the Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia, approaching the final weekend of CHIO Aachen.
Farrington flew through the second round of Frank Rothenberger’s (GER) 1.55m course in 46.65 seconds.
The German home team topped over half of the leaderboard with six of the top ten placings, including second and third behind Farrington.
World #6, Christian Ahlmann and his Rio Olympic mount, 17 year-old stallion, Taloubet Z finished double-clear with a time of 47.14 seconds, for the second place award.
Third place was awarded to Simone Blum and her own DSP Alice, close on Ahlmann’s heels, also double-clear, with a time of 47.20 seconds.
The Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia served as a qualifier for the show’s finale, the Rolex Grand Prix, for riders who did not start in the Mercedes-Benz Nations’ Cup. The Grand Prix is part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping and is set to begin Sunday, July 23, at 7:15 a.m. EST.
