With less than a week to go until the 2017 season kicks off in full, the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League will soon arrive in Mexico City for round one of what promises to be another sensational year of top sport and thrilling entertainment. Last year saw the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit make a further strategic expansion across the American continent with the addition of a spectacular new event in Mexico City. A hugely popular venue, the event welcomed thousands of new fans to the grassy arena of Campo Marte in 2016, with spectators lining the arena to witness the stars of show jumping in action and cheer on their heroes in the heart of the city.

This year, Mexico City will have the honour of opening the 2017 season by hosting round 1 of the competition, kicking off on the 6th – 9th April. Campo Marte is an equestrian venue located in the Avenue Paseo de la Reforma, next to the National Auditorium in Chapultepec Park, in Mexico City, which previously hosted Olympic Games dressage and individual jumping events.

French legend and Olympic medallist Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) wowed the crowds in emphatic style to win the 2016 LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City, but who will throw down the gauntlet this season to start the 2017 Championship campaign and kick off the 12th year of the LGCT season in style?

Check out this taster of what’s to come this year – high drama, top sport and world class entertainment will make LGCT Mexico City the perfect curtain-raiser to the season!
