Chapot and Babington Win Wednesday Features at 2019 Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, N.Y. – June 26, 2019 – Laura Chapot (USA) and Kevin Babington (IRL), winners of last year’s two grand prix events in Lake Placid, took top honors Wednesday at the 2019 Lake Placid Horse Shows, sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC.

Chapot, winner of last year’s $100,000 Great American Insurance Group Grand Prix, rode Out of Ireland to the win in the $5,000 NBC 5 1.40m Jumper Class. She turned in a clean ride in 62.768 seconds to claim the win over Gracie Allen, who had held the lead for most of the class. Allen finished clean in 64.392 seconds on Rivage de Lormay. Chapot also finished third with a clean ride in 68.167 seconds on Chandon Blue.

Chapot added a win in the $2,000 Adirondack Life 1.35m Jumper Class, riding Calafornia to two clean rides and a jump-off time of 34.810 seconds. Second place went to Rachel Glicklich who finished clean in 37.347 seconds on MJ to edge 2018 World Equestrian Games team Gold Medalist Devin Ryan who finished clean in 37.547 on Caspar’s Lasino.

Babington, defending champion in Sunday’s $100,000 Prevost Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix, rode Dundee to the win in the $3,000 Lake Placid Lodge 1.30m Jumper Class. Babington finished with the fastest clean ride, coming home in 59.710 seconds to edge Sima Morgello, who was clean in 60.581 seconds on Azur van Overis Z.

In the $3,000 Sidelines 1.30m Jumper Class, Tomas Yofre took top honors with a clean ride in 60.568 seconds on Chatman. Placing second was Casey Lorusso on Iceman with a clean ride in 61.277.

Celebrating 50 years of show jumping in Lake Placid, the Lake Placid Horse Shows, held at the North Elba Showgrounds, are considered, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer.” The US Equestrian Federation (USEF) has designated the Lake Placid Horse Shows as a “USEF Heritage Competition,” an honor reserved for an elite group of exceptional shows.
