Oh d’Eole from Mclain Ward over Marc Bettinger to Michel Robert
De cooperation between Haras de Hus and Michel Robert expands. Xavier Marie of the French stud Haras de Hus has purchased another horse for the 63 year old Frenchman to ride. This time it is the lovely Selle Francaise mare Oh d’Eole (Kannan x Papillon Rouge) that comes Robert’s way. The ten year old mare (left) has showed very good results with McLain Ward in the United States last year winning up to $200.000 and six GP’s. Beginning of the WEF 2012 it went wrong in the double combination of the GP at week one. The sensible horse jumped to the side. Mclain Ward fell off and broke his kneecap. The horse returned to Europe, to the place where it came from, Ecurie Mathy. François Mathy’s German rider Marc Bettinger immediately won a few 1.50m classes in Austria and the German championship in Balve on Oh d’Eole. In Aachen the pair again jumped into the spotlights. There the horse was discovered by Michel Robert, who currently lacks a GP horse after the sale of Kellemoi de Pepita, who already died in her new owner’s stable.
Leon Ahlmann, son for Judy-Ann and Christian
Judy-Ann Melchior (right) and Christian Ahlmann are the proud parents of Leon Ahlmann, named after granddad Leon Melchior. The baby was born on Friday 27 of June, just a few days before Christian Ahlmann travelled to London to compete with Codex One. The Zangersheide stallion Taloubet Z stays home. Rumours tell that Judy-Ann has chosen for Caesarian section to make sure that Ahlmann
was with her during the birth.
Marcus Ehning to ride for Haras de Hus
Since Kevin Staut left Haras de Hus, the French stud has not only a new top rider with Michel Robert, also Marcus Ehning (left) will be riding for them. Ehning gets the seven-year-old stallion Ferron (For Pleasure x Concerto II). Johannes Ehning will also be riding for Xavier Marie. He’s showing Ferron’s halfbrother For Hero (For Pleasure out of the sister to Stakkato).
Haras de Clarbec investing for Penelope
Penelope Leprevost (right) has a new ride in Vagabond de la Pomme. The seven year old stallion by Vigo d’Arsouilles has been purchased by Penelope’s supporters Haras de Clarbec, and will join the leading French lady rider once the breeding season has ended. Geneviève Megret from Haras de Clarbec knows the horse for a long time. She has always thought it was a real horse for the future. The hope is that Vagabond de la Pomme will allow Penelope to stay at the highest level, and develop to Nations Cup level. A little earlier Haras de Clarbec has also bought the KWPN stallion Topinambour, to guarantee him for Penelope. The chestnut stallion was brought with her to be commercialized, but since he’s gathering so many good results at the
highest level, he’s now bought by Haras de Clarbec of family Mégret.
Tornesch an Coupe de Coeur not fit for London
Malin Baryard-Johnsson has discovered a light tendon injury on her horse H&M Tornesch (left) (Lux x Libero H) and so she misses the Olympics. Malin decided to get Tornesch examined after the Nations Cup of Falsterbo as she did not feel he jumped as normal. Swedish rider Henrik von Eckermann intended to compete Coupe de Coeur in London, but after a veterinary inspection in Falsterbo the stallion was also found not to be 100 % fit. Henrik will instead compete Allerdings also from his boss Ludger Beerbaum, which he rode in Aachen.
Lamaze and Scendix separate
Hunters Scendix and Eric Lamaze (right) are no longer a pair. The match between both wasn’t like we all expected. Hunters Scendix (Stakkato x Dinar) joined Lamaze in December 2011, but the results didn’t come up. Also an injury has caused some troubles at the end of the WEF. Apparently an evaluation has been made after the pair’s time together, and in agreement the cooperation has ended. The nine year old Hunters Scendix will now return to his home in Reningelst for a rest after his travels around the world. His former rider Brecht Bille gets back the ride
of the stallion.
Full sister Bella Donna to Belgium
Thanks to the mediation of Mr. Frank Gevers, Haras de la Vie from Belgium was able to buy the full sister of Bella Donna. The three year old mare will assist the breeding program of this stud. For 2013 she is in foal to Cascavelle NT, a son of Cassini I out of a Caretino-mare. Bella Donna descends from Holstein lineage 7126, the lineage of Burggraaf, Acobat, Accord, etc. The only 9-year old Bella Donna of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum is a real phenomenon. Every press article is lyric about Meredith Michaels Beerbaum and her incredible mare. She was not only successful during the Global Champions Tour but also during the CHIO of Aachen 2012, where she gained third place in the GP. The next day the announcement came that Bella Donna and her rider got a ticket for the Olympic Games and because of the illness of Monte Bellini, she comes into the team.
McIntosh back competing
Samantha McIntosh (right) of New-Zealand, who has been living back in her home country for about a year now, is presently preparing her comeback to high-level equestrian sport. ‘I’m lucky to have great New Zealand sponsors I can rely on. We are planning to purchase some horses for the future. We just bought a 9-year-old Hanoverian mare named Claire (Chasseur x Goldstern). The previous owner had been Ben and Wim Schroder. I intend to introduce the mare to high level sports. My objective is the participation at the world championships and to reach the finals maybe in two years’ time. I am planning to go back to Europe, but only if I have horses at my disposal that are able to compete at the highest level.’
