Greenwich Park, England – July 31, 2012 – In a disappointing change of events for the United States, Otis Barbotiere, the mount of Eventing rider Boyd Martin, was held and withdrawn during this morning’s second inspection before the Show Jumping phase. The young horse came up lame after being the first to traverse the cross-country track yesterday. We will continue to update you on his condition as more details become available.
"As the first out yesterday I was a bit worried about slipping, and maybe we over studded a little bit," stated Martin. "I think he's got a bit of a sprained ankle. We thought he was improving this morning and he looked ok on the way down, but on that hard ground on the way back he was pretty sore. It was in Otis' best interest to withdraw him."
Other changes to note:
The Belgian Team is now out of the running, as Lully Des Aulnes and Dunkas A were not presented.
The Canadian Team is down to only one rider after Michelle Mueller chose not to present Amistad.
Polish rider Pawel Spisak was also held at the inspection with Wag and chose to withdraw.
