Traverse City, MI – June 25, 2012 – For Yvonne Barteau and KYB Dressage, combining vacation and competition proved to be the winning combination for not only the Barteau family but also the KYB Dressage clients as well. Most
exciting was Yvonne’s win on GP Raymeister in the $1500 FEI Grand Prix Musical Freestyle with a score of 71.500%.
GP Raymeister, owned by GP Equestrian/Gina Frantz, was the defending champion from last season, winning the top honors in front of judges Lois Yukins and Lorraine Stubs. Husband Kim and daughter Kayla were also successful in the feature event of the show taking ribbons in the $1000 FEI Intermediare I Musical Freestyle and the FEI JR Rider Musical Freestyle respectively.
The Dressage by the Bay Series attracted hundreds of spectators over three days of competition with the musical freestyles being the crowd favorite. A private exhibitor fundraiser, sponsored by Hampton Green Farm, was also held with donations from the party going to the Michigan Horse Welfare Coalition as well as 100% of the proceeds from spectator admission. Over $3500 was raised to assist Michigan horses in need.
Dressage by the Bay was the first leg of the six week long Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival. Competition resumes next week. Families are encouraged to attend the Molon Excavating, Inc Kid's Day (July 7) and the Grand Traverse Pie Company Family Day (July 21) where children of all ages will be admitted for free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fun games, a poster contest, and activities will be located in the Farm House Orchard at Flintfields Horse Park.
