May 15, 2017 – North Salem, New York – Tina La Boheme, ridden by 2016 U.S. Olympic team silver medalist McLain Ward, was named the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winner during the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows CSI2*, held May 9-14, 2017, at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY.

Equis Boutique, a luxury tack and apparel shopping experience, sponsors the Best Presented Horse Award at various FEI-sanctioned events throughout the United States.

The FEI CSI2* Horse Inspection for week one of the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows was held Thursday, May 11, at Old Salem Farm. Led by President Phillip Rozon (CAN), the FEI Ground Jury evaluated the appearance and condition of horses jogging for FEI competition. They recognized Tina La Boheme, a ten-year-old Selle Français mare (Calvaro x Arpege Pierreville) owned by McLain Ward and Susan Heller, and groom Christopher Cook as the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winners.

“Chris is a phenomenal guy, and he works extremely hard,” said Ward, who is currently ranked number two in the world on the Longines FEI World Rankings. “He is very enthusiastic and a great part of our team.

“I have always said that I am only the final part of the story,” continued Ward. “The team behind me is a huge part of our success. They put in incredible hours and dedication. It’s not a job – these people don’t ever clock in and out, so to be recognized for their efforts is very important.”

Cook has been part of Ward’s team for five years and started working with Tina La Boheme when she joined their string about a year and a half ago.

“Tina is a very good mare,” said Cook. “We’ve grown quite a relationship, and she turned out to be a very good horse. She’s a pleasure to take care of.”

Of the Equis Best Presented Horse Award, Cook noted, “This means a lot. I come from a small hunter barn in England, so to work for the number-two rider in the world and be recognized like this is very special.”

Cook was honored for the Equis Best Presented Horse Award with a commemorative vest, while Ward was presented with a $100 gift certificate to Equis Boutique.
