2018 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit Returns Next Year with Same Schedule and $1 Million Grand Prix

Congratulations to Lauren Hough and OhLaLa, the 2017 winners of the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix which takes place during the final week of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit and will return in 2018.

Saugerties, N.Y. – Apr. 1, 2017 – The final week of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit has always been packed with excitement and, for the last four years, it has culminated with the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix. HITS, Inc. is pleased to announce that the iconic $1 Million Grand Prix class will return to the Horse Capital of the World next year in 2018 for the fifth consecutive year.

“We congratulate Lauren Hough, who has shown with HITS since her pony days, on a superb first-place finish in the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix this year in Ocala. Great American Insurance Group has been the ultimate sponsor of HITS for the past four years and we thank them for that unprecedented level of support,” said HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri. “We are looking forward to next year and continuing our tradition of excellence by offering this level of competition and prize money to Ocala competitors again.”

Not only will the world’s most elite riders and horses compete in the Ocala Horse Properties Stadium for one of the sport’s richest prize purses again, but the 2018 Ocala Winter Circuit will keep the same schedule it produced in 2017 with $4 Million in prize money, USEF National and Premier-Rated Hunters and 5* and 6* jumpers. The 10-week Ocala Winter Circuit will run from January 16–March 25 in 2018.

The HITS Holiday Series will also return this December to kick off another winter season with two weeks of top-caliber hunter/jumper shows. The HITS Holiday Series begins the first week on December 1-4 and is then followed by an off week so exhibitors can explore the Ocala and Marion County area. The second week of the HITS Holiday Series is December 14-18.

The City of Ocala and residents of Marion County are loyal supporters of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. Last season, the city hosted the team members of the FEI Nations Cup™ Ocala for a Jump Downtown Parade of Nations and a Parade of Breeds. The same level of support and exciting events is expected to continue next year— the CEP of Ocala hopes to continue the Parade of Breeds during the Ocala Winter Circuit to celebrate Ocala’s stature as the Horse Capital of the World.
