On a bright and sunny, but chilly and brisk Friday afternoon in South Florida, it was Ireland’s Ronan McGuigan and Capall Zidane claiming victory over a starting field of 47 in the one round $34,000 Holiday and Horses Speed Classic at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida. McGuigan, going late in the order, unseated Lauren Hough and Heracross who had gone ninth and held the lead through much of the class. The Irish rider raced home in 63.96 seconds to edge out Hough by 7/10ths of a second. Heracross tripped the timers in 64.74 seconds. ....

Ireland’s Kevin Babington raced to victory on Wednesday at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, guiding his fast rising and highly successful mare Shorapur to victory in the $34,000 Holiday and Horses Opener Grand Prix, the first of three major events to be held over the next four days. The top three finishers in today’s 17 horse tiebreaker were tightly bunched as Babington was a mere 8/10ths of a second faster than second place rider Andrew Welles and Boo Van Het Kastanjehof and just a second ahead of Finland’s Nina Fagerstrom who was third with Notaris....
